Seminar on Trace Optimization

Trace optimization is an approach, used in interpretation and JIT-compilation, which can allow to essentially decrease the running time. The idea is to find hot spots and execute them directly of a hardware. The optimization was successfully utilized in a number of projects, such as JIT-compiler for a Java VM, Mozilla’s TraceMonkey JavaScript VM and Adobe’s Tamarin ActionScript VM.
