Received a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, United States, in 2018. There she majored in computational analysis of genomic data and phylogenetics, while working at the Caribbean Genome Center as a junior researcher.
Previously, in 2015, she graduated from the Biology Department of St. Petersburg State University, sub-department of Genetics and Biotechnology, and was awarded a BSc degree in Biology. Simultaneously with her primary studies, Sofia took additional education courses at the Bioinformatics Institute of St. Petersburg in 2013-2014 and she worked at the Theodosius Dobzhansky Center for Genome Bioinformatics in 2015-2018 as a research engineer.
Sofia joined the BCNNM project in 2017 and is mostly interested in metabolomics, cell signaling and development modeling.
